Overall Personality:
Being raised in a muggle society, Lucy has been influenced by many cultural aspects, music being her favorite. When in grade school she had a penpal in the US who introduced her to different artists such as Neil Diamond and Chicago. The pair traded discography back and forth along with letters about their lives. She was two when The Beatles started out, and twelve when they broke up. Her family liked their music, as did she, she remembers crying when she found out they broke up.
Lucy has always preferred natural sweets such as apples and strawberries, and practically any kind of fruit, over candy. She's naturally sunny and happy and doesn't need the artificial flavors to keep her happy and bouncy. The only sort of gum she likes is mint flavored. She prefers lemonade or fruit juices, tea or even water, to soda. She eats healthy and therefore keeps her slender figure.
Lucy is a rather shy girl, tending to keep to herself and her books. When confronted, however, Lucy can go from the timid little kitten to a fierce tigress ready to jump down the intruder's throat. She's not afraid of who she is, in fact she's quite proud of it. When she first heard the word 'mudblood' she felt hurt, but over the years she's grown to use it against the purebloods that try to hurt her with it. Mudblood and proud of it, she'd say.
Being muggle-born she's expected by others to not be as good as those who were born into the magical community, and she strives to prove otherwise. She works hard at her studies and tries to do her very best in all her classes. In her third year when all the electives were opened up to her, she sat down and made a 5 year plan of which electives she would take in what year to get all the ones she wanted in. Music was one class she was especially curious to take, as she grew up with the muggle music and was interested to see what the wizarding community grew up with.
Even though she is able to stand up for herself when confronted, and although she does well in her studies, Lucy is rather insecure. There are times when the word mudblood does hurt her, and when she doesn't think she belongs in the magical world. Times when she doesn't think she's good enough. She's able to pick herself up fairly well, but there are always insecurities that she carries with her even if she does well to hide them.

Overall History:
April 27th, 1958 was a nice sunny day when Lucinda Mae Litcott entered the world. She was affectionately dubbed 'Lucy' by her parents. Andrew and Elizabeth both preferred nicknames, but they also liked options. They always planned to name their daughter Lucy, but in order to have options named her Lucinda. Andy and Lizzy were filled with joy when their little angel arrived, her eyes seeming to sparkle with curiosity. The young girl was almost always happy, rarely a tear in sight. She had a sunny disposition that matched the weather on the day she was born.
Lucy grew up a happy child. She loved to play in the sun, and loved dancing around to music. The Beatles were always her favorite. When she was 7, and in 2nd year grade school, she had the opportunity to write to a penpal from the states. Her penpal was named Julia and the two became fast friends. Julia would tell Lucy about different music she listened to, and Lucy would do the same. Through the years, Lucy and Julia kept in touch and continued to form a strong bond of friendship, even if they knew they could never really meet. They shared every secret together, that was, until Lucy turned eleven.
On Lucy's eleventh birthday a strange woman showed up on her doorstep. She said she was from the Ministry of Magic, and Lucy laughed in her face, thinking she was supposed to be some sort of magician showing her tricks. But the Ministry official frowned at the laughter. She sat down with Lucy and her parents and explained all about the wizarding world. Lucy thought it was a joke for the longest time, but the witch left her with the letter of acceptance to Hogwarts and her school supply list. She then told them that another Ministry official would arrive the next day to take them to Diagon Alley to get their school supplies. In a way to prove she was for real, the woman disapparated. The next day a man arrived through their fireplace. It gave them quite a shock. He took them to Diagon Alley where their first stop was Gringotts, to exchange money. The ministry official then left them to do their exploring on their own. Lucy perused the shopping list, still in shock at this new phenomenon. Her, magical? She saw others like her, dressed in, what was it they called it, muggle?, clothing with their parents. It was strange, but it made her feel better. Then there were those dressed strangely, like the ministry officials that had told her the news. She headed to Ollivander's first. Her wand chose her almost instantly and she loved it. Cherry wood, 7inches, with unicorn hair. It was beautiful. She then went to get fitted for robes. When Lucy saw she was allowed to have an owl, cat, or toad, she became very excited. She begged her parents to let her get a pet and dragged them into the Magical Menagerie where she instantly fell in love with a tiny ragdoll kitten with ice blue eyes that almost exactly matched her own. Her parents couldn't bear to break her little heart and bought the creature for her. Lucy named the kitten Icicle immediately and cuddled it close in her arms.
Her parents dropped her off at the station for her first time on the train to Hogwarts. She wasn't alone, there were wizarding families that kindly assisted in ushering her through the barrier and onto the train. Hogwarts was more beautiful than she could ever have imagined, and the sorting ceremony was lovely. She was sorted into a wonderful house in which she felt right at home. It was a perfect fit.
Over the years, Lucy studied hard and excelled in many of her classes. Some proved more challenging than others, but she graciously accepted the challenge, trying to do the very best she could. She never got the hang of flying, it scared her a bit too much not being able to be in control on the ground. Her favorite class was always charms.
Now in her 7th year, Lucy is a bit sad at the thought of having to leave Hogwarts. She doesn't know what she'll do without the comfort of the castle walls, and the friendliness of the teaching staff. She's trying hard to figure out what she'll do with her life. Whether she should try to go back to life in the muggle world or if she needs to find something in the wizarding world. She's struggling to find her place but she knows it's out there for her somewhere.

Dear Julia,
This new school is incredible. I wish you could see it. It's huge! Like a castle! I'm amazed I even got accepted into it. It's a very elite boarding school, and I'm learning many great things. They're very strict on some rules though. There are no televisions, no music. The lack of the sound of music is killing me and I always look forward to summer to get my hands on all the records I missed while I'm away.
How is life for you?
Yours sincerely,
Lucy
Lucy frowned and crumpled up the letter. She didn't even know if Julia still lived at the same address. She missed having the correspondence, but she knew she couldn't be honest with the girl. She couldn't just say 'Hey, guess what! I'm a witch!' It just didn't work that way. She sighed and tossed the letter out the window. Her one real friend she had growing up she couldn't even talk to. Lucy used to share all her deepest secrets with Julia, but now? Now she couldn't do anything but lie to her.
Lucy shook her head, letting her curls fall over her face a bit and took a deep breath, exhaling slowly. Best not to think about that any more. There wasn't anything she could do about it now. She should make some new friends. But Lucy had never been all that great at making new friends, she was too shy for that. That was why she had enjoyed writing so much. It was like keeping a journal, like writing to herself, it was easy. Speaking wasn't as easy.
Taking one last look around the owlery, Lucy plastered a fake smile on her face. What was that phrase she'd heard once? Fake it until you make it. That was exactly what she planned on doing. Smiling until it became real. She petted one of the owls before heading back down towards one of her favorite places in the castle...the library.
